Today, noise is recognised as a principal factor in environmental pollution. The characterisation of ambient noise, the conservation of open spaces and the implementation of initiatives to ensure a favourable living environment have become essential considerations.  Any noise that exceeds specified limits, whether it originates from neighbours, leisure activities or an industrial site, may have an adverse impact on public well-being and/or the health of nearby residents. A regulatory framework exists for each field of application. Systematic compliance inspections must be carried out and, in the event that acceptable limits are exceeded, suitable solutions identified.
